swayne-johnson-elf-dayWe love a good cause at Swayne Johnson Solicitors, and we are pleased to announce that on the 8th of December, our offices across North Wales and Chester are partaking in Elf Day – a day dedicated to embracing your inner Elf and raising money for a very good cause.

The Alzheimer’s Society is a registered charity which provides a number of vital services to the community – Assisting those who are living with dementia, family members, and carers either face-to-face or through their free support telephone number, the National Dementia Helpline. The advisors which are part of the Alzheimer’s Society offer help, support, advice, and also social support to anyone affected by dementia.

The Alzheimer’s Society invest substantially into dementia research, and commit a large amount of funding to cutting-edge research which has led to many breakthroughs with regard to this disease. Furthermore, the Alzheimer’s Society also invest a lot of their funding into campaigning to ensure that dementia is a subject which is kept at the top of the political agenda, and also to raise awareness about this condition.

The Alzheimer’s Society also offer many different ways to support those affected by this condition as well. For instance, community services across the UK. The Alzheimer’s Society also offer over 3000 services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, including Dementia Cafes and Singing For the Brain sessions allowing those affected to discuss dementia, get answers from health professionals, as well as make new friends in a relaxed environment.

The importance of living well when confronted with dementia is so important for both carers and those living with dementia, and the work of the Alzheimer’s Society is a lifeline to a large amount of people across the UK which otherwise would have to cope with this condition alone. The Alzheimer’s Society have trained dementia advisors, dementia support workers, and side by side volunteers who help people to continue living well by doing the things they always have enjoyed, for the long term.

Dementia cafes, as well as trained staff make a gigantic difference to the lives of those affected by this condition, and keeping them operational, as well as investing in the future of research and community awareness is a very large and a very difficult undertaking. As an example of this, figures published by the Alzheimer’s Society indicate that well over 10,000 people have used the services of the Alzheimer’s Society in 2016. As the population lives longer, this number will only rise.

Dementia support is a resource which is absolutely vital to the community and only seems as if it will get more important in years to come. We are delighted to support the Alzheimer’s Society and we’re certain that all members of our offices across North Wales look forward to letting loose and unleashing their inner Elves on Friday, the 8th of December.
