Swayne Johnsons Solicitors in North Wales are once again taking part in Dementia Awareness Week this year to help increase understanding and support for those with dementia in our local community.

Last year was a huge success for the Swayne Johnson Dementia Awareness Week, our staff learned a great deal about the nuanced issues facing dementia sufferers and their families. The sessions were extremely valuable as our solicitors work with people living with dementia and their families on a regular basis so we are delighted to once again be taking part in making North Wales a dementia-friendly place.

Swayne Johnson solicitor Krystal Garnett will be running one hour Dementia Friends Information Sessions at our Ruthin Office on the following days during Dementia Awareness Week (17th – 23rd May 2015):-

Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 1pm

Wednesday 20th May 2015 at 6pm

Thursday 20th May 2015 at 3pm

Telephone 01824 703833 today to book your place.

We will also be holding a coffee morning on Friday the 22nd of May 2015 between 10am – 12pm to celebrate the success of Dementia Awareness Week. All proceeds taken on the day will go to Alzheimer’s Society. Please come along and show your support.

Krystal is highly experienced in issues surrounding dementia as a volunteer and Dementia Friends Champion. She is the ideal candidate to deliver these sessions and there is so much you can learn and discover about raising awareness and tackling the stigma surrounding dementia.

Krystal Garnett – “Having been personally affected by dementia, I signed up to be a Dementia Friends Champion because I think that it is important to raise awareness about dementia and educate people about the small things they can do to help people living with the condition’ . It’s easy to get involved. I attended a training course, receive ongoing support and am proud to be a part of a growing network of people creating dementia friendly communities together.”

The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme works to change people’s perceptions surrounding dementia. Did you know that dementia is not a normal part of ageing and it is not simply a case of losing your memory. These are just some of the topics that will be covered in the Swayne Johnson dementia information session.

The Dementia Friends Programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It hopes to transform the way we think, talk and act about the condition.

Swayne Johnson are thrilled to once again be helping the Dementia Friends Programme and we hope our visitors to the session will consider becoming Dementia Friends as well.

Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. 225,000 people develop dementia in the UK every year. There are approximately 45,321 people living with dementia in Wales but people with dementia can live well and independently for many years.

Please join us for Dementia Awareness Week at the Swayne Johnson Ruthin office and be sure to book your place beforehand. Address: Llanrhydd Manor, Llanrhydd Street, Ruthin, LL15 1PP.
