Where are you from?

Originally, I am from Birmingham but have lived in North Wales since I was a child. Having lived in Anglesey, Gwynedd and now Conwy, I have good local knowledge of the main areas I cover and enjoy a great working relationship with a number of local businesses.

What made you get into law?

Funnily enough I get asked this question all the time and the truth is it was pure fluke! I had been offered a place at University to study Criminology but my A-Level Law Tutor convinced me I had a flare for Law. I then studied for my Legal Diploma with CILEX before proceeding to complete my Law Degree on a 2-year programme at Bangor University and my Postgraduate Legal Practice Course at Liverpool John Moores University. Thankfully, it seems my tutor was right.

Why did you choose Family Law?

Honestly, Family Law chose me. I always knew I wanted to work within a litigious area of law, but I started working as a Family Law Legal Secretary while I studied towards my CILEX Legal Diploma and just fell in love with it. After completing my degree, I was successful in obtaining employment as a Legal Assistant within a Family Law Firm, I was initially contracted for 6 months to cover a colleague’s maternity cover and I ended up staying 9 years, within which time I qualified as a Solicitor, working solely within the Family Law Department. As soon as I was working within the field of Family Law, I knew that was the right department for me.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I am lucky enough to work with a vast spectrum of people and I feel honoured that people choose me to guide them through hugely emotional journeys. I am genuinely interested in my field and review and develop my legal knowledge and practice regularly by way of courses, seminars, and legal research, to ensure I maintain up to date knowledge and can offer a full range of Family Law services to my clients. The most enjoyable aspect of my job is the client interaction though, no two clients are the same and I am glad to be a port of call for them when they are finding things tough.

Finally, one non-legal related question, what do you like to do in your spare time?

When I am not in the office or the Courtroom you can generally find me walking around some of the stunning coastal paths and lakes we have locally, chasing after my 2 young children, or in my kitchen where I will probably be cooking something with plenty of chillies, I love anything spicy!
